In season 2012 there are 20 Grands Prix in different countries all around the world. Grands Prix held on special circuits or on public roads like in Circuit de Monaco. There are 24 drivers and 12 teams. The results of each race are combined with points system to set two World championships, one for drivers and another for construction of car.
A Formula one Grand Prix weekend begins on friday with two free practice sessions on friday, where engineers and drivers try to find optimal settings for the car and tyres. Saturday starts with one practice session and qualifying session. This session sets the starting order for the race on Sunday. In qualifyng session drivers have one or more attemt to set their fastest time, the fastest car on pole position and starts from 1st place.
Points system
Different system for awarding championship points have been used since 1950. Nowdays, the top ten cars of 24 get points, the winner gets 25 points.
